ATLANTIC BIRD™ SATELLITES
The unparalleled multi-satellite route linking the Americas & Europe, the Middle-East & Africa
With four satellites, featuring unprecedented in-orbit mutual back-up capabilities - ATLANTIC BIRD™ 1 (Ku-band, 12.5° West), ATLANTIC BIRD™ 2 (Ku-band, 8° West), ATLANTIC BIRD™ 3 (Ku and C-band, 5° West) and ATLANTIC BIRD™ 7 (Ku-band, 7° West) - the ATLANTIC BIRD™ satellites form one of the strongest satellite neighbourhoods for trans-Atlantic video, IP and data applications.
Fully integrated with Eutelsat's pan-European, Middle East and North African market reach, the ATLANTIC BIRD™ satellites provide American video professionals with seamless access to over 122 million homes via bundled turnarounds on Eutelsat's leading DTH orbital positions. It also allows Internet content and service providers to extend their reach, with a choice gateway for direct access to the heart of the Internet backbone.

KA-SAT SATELLITE
The Ka-Sat satellite is configured with over 80 spotbeams, with a network of ten ground stations connecting to the Internet backbone .
The KA-SAT programme is to deliver efficient resources for the mass-market delivery of the Tooway™ consumer broadband service, targeted at users across Europe and the Mediterranean Basin located beyond range of ADSL networks. With a throughput of over 70 Gigabits per second, KA-SAT will be capable of serving over one million users who expect bandwidth and prices comparable to ADSL2 performance.
Eutelsat will also drive the development of satellite-based consumer broadband services with triple-play capability, by combining broadband services in the Ka-band, through KA-SAT, with the reception of TV channels in the Ku-band. In order to facilitate the availability of high-performance triple-play equipment at competitive prices, Eutelsat will deploy the KA-SAT satellite to 9° East. This deployment will simplify production of dual-feed antennas transmitting and receiving broadband services in the Ka-band from 9° East, and receiving television in the Ku-band from Eutelsat’s flagship HOT BIRD™ neighbourhood at 13° East.

HOTBIRD™ SATELLITES
The HOT BIRD™ satellites provide full coverage of Europe and the Middle East, and also parts of Africa and Asia. This is the prime position in Europe for reception of consumer television and radio. Direct-To-Home reception in beam centre is possible with antennae smaller than 70 cm, and with slightly larger antennas, throughout Europe, North Africa and as far East as Moscow and Dubai.
With a constellation of three high-power satellites, the HOT BIRD™ family at 13 degrees East forms one of the largest broadcasting systems in Europe, delivering 1100 television channels to more than 120 million TV homes in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.
